What Makes Solar Panel Work?

Solar panels are the main source of the solar system that is used to produce cleaner and cheaper energy. These panels crown the rooftop of your home or industry. In short, you can say, the more panel you install, the more amount of electricity you can deploy.

The sun is the most abundant form of energy that can never run out. It releases energy in small packets called photons. These photons are used by solar panels to generate the required amount of energy. But have you ever thought about how these photons are used and how solar panels actually work?

What makes up a solar panel?

Photovoltaic solar panels (PVC) are made up of many solar cells. However, these solar cells are made up of silicon-like semiconductors. Further, it is constructed by the combination of two layers, one is positively charged and the other is negatively charged similar to the arrangement of a battery.

How does a solar panel work?

The photovoltaic cells generate a direct current that has unidirectional flow around the circuit. However, the electrons directly move from the negative side to the positive one.

The solar inverter is marked up as the brain of the solar system. It is used to convert DC into AC. As DC cannot be used to produce electricity for the functioning of the home appliances or industrial motors. So, this direct current must be converted into an alternating current.

However, solar panels absorb the direct current from the panel and convert it into alternating current. Furthermore, ground fault protection is provided and system statistics are generated, including voltages and currents on AC and DC circuits, energy production, and maximum power points.

When the photons hit a solar cell they knock and tend the electrons to release their atoms. An electrical circuit is formed if the conductors are attached to the left or right side of the solar panel. Later, the current flows through the circuit to generate electricity that powers the home appliances or pieces of industrial machinery.

The Sum-up

Solar energy is the universal solution to the global energy crisis. Countries like Pakistan can use solar energy to combat energy crises and reduce employment issues as well. It is a prime solution in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels for energy production. Also, solar energy is used to reduce the carbon footprints that are harmful to the atmosphere.
